Richard : I have a problem with my hands.
Abby : What do you mean?
Richard : They do not want to do what I want them to do.
Abby : What do you want them to do?
Richard : Anything. I don't know. Anything useful. Build something or do something.
Abby : Like what?
Richard : Even Jesus, that is, He was a carpenter. It was not enough just save humanity. He needed a tray. I am a man without substance.
Abby : Well, compared to Jesus ...
Richard : I am a man of paper.
Paper Man, basically tells a story about a middle aged writer who still can't get rid of his childhood imaginary friend. On the advice of his wife, he moves to a beach house to deal with his writer blocked. There he befriended a teenage girl who only has one strange friend and a jerky boyfriend. They then found warmth and friendship in each other and learn more about life and about relationships.
It's a movie who tells mostly about relationship, about human interactions, about human co-dependency, how one always needs others to survive daily existence. And what saddened me the most is when it's time for them to be apart after all the friendship that has been woven. I always wish that I could hold tight every person that I have befriended with and stay with them at the best level of friendship that we can. But life never seems like letting that happened.
ps. The dialogue I quoted above reflects a bit of what I wrote here seven months ago.
ps2. Thank you for the movie recommendation.
