I do agree with Mark Twain saying that books are for those who wanna be somewhere else.
But since I spent a lot (I mean, a LOT) of times in traffic, music always saves me by taking me somewhere else. Once I've been cynical to those people wearing their earphone anywhere they go like they couldn't listen to any of those music when they're in their more private place. It's like, hey it's public place, be more aware of your surrounding. But later I figured that things around are too distracting. And listening to music helps me to be more calm and at least I had the little chance to enjoy myself in the traffic.
And that's also the reason why I very rarely listen to (the pop mainstream) local songs, because they take me nowhere.
